Farndale_Daffodils_by_Gillian_KentFrom wild heather upland of the North York Moors National Park and gently rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds to the patchwork beauty of farmland in the Vale of Pickering, Ryedale has it all. Also within the area’s beautiful and diverse landscape are the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the Vale of York, which provides the main gateway to Ryedale from the City of York.

But there is more to Ryedale than spectacular scenery. Ryedale’s four market towns – Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Pickering and Malton & Norton – bustle with life, especially on market days, whilst many of Ryedale’s pretty villages take life at a slower pace. If you are planning to stay in Ryedale, the district offers a range of accommodation, in the towns and in rural locations.

A rural district it may be, but there are plenty of attractions to visit. From stately homes, abbeys and castles to museums, steam trains and a theme park and zoo, the choice is yours. For a fun filled day out, Ryedale offers a varied programme of events. Traditional agricultural shows, traction engine rallies and giant Yorkshire puddings paddled around a village pond are just some of the events held in Ryedale each year. For those interested in a more active holiday there is plenty of opportunity for a round of golf, horse riding, fishing and much more. And at the end of the day, why not relax with a drink and something to eat in a local pub or restaurant, all with a great Yorkshire welcome.
