Ryedale tourism businesses won two awards at the annual White Rose Awards run by Welcome to Yorkshire, the regional destination management organisation, on Monday night (10th October).
The Black Swan at Oldstead was named Restaurant of the Year, following up their recent Michelin Star award, and Robin Hood Caravan and Camping Park beat off strong competition to win the outstanding customer service award. They will go on to represent Yorkshire in the national Visit England awards being held next spring. Moorlands Country House, Levisham, was highly commended in the class for bed and breakfast guest accommodation.
Other businesses which were named as finalists in the awards, held at Doncaster Racecourse, were Yorkshire Lavender, Terrington (small visitor attraction), Robin Hood Caravan Park (caravan holiday parks), 17 Burgate, Pickering (B&B/guest accommodation), White Swan Hotel, Pickering (small hotel/townhouse), Blue Bell Inn, Weaverthorpe (Yorkshire pub of the year), Sutton Bank and Pickering Tourist Information Centres (Visitor Information), Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Cafe, Pickering and The Balloon Tree Farm Shop & Cafe, Gate Helmsley (Taste of Yorkshire).
Craig Nattress, Tourism Web & eMarketing Officer for Ryedale District Council, said: “Those businesses nominated for an award have shown a commitment to providing a first-class experience for their customers whilst constantly improving their business. Those factors are what helps makes Ryedale such a great place to visit.”
